I have been doing a pitiful job of updating my blog lately -- and it's all H's fault ;)

We're on Summer Break now, which has truly been a blessing --> it makes me feel better to have the summers off, since we can't afford for me to be a SAHM.  I'm not getting nearly as much cleaning/organizing finished as I'd originally planned, but I have been getting to spend ample time watching Bug grow... and it's amazing!!  To think that, at this time last year we were still more than 100 days from meeting him! I would've been about 23 weeks along & Bug would only have weighed about 1 lb! I remember reading about that milestone!! He was just beginning to hear music & the dog barking outside the womb... there have been many times I wondered how much this ability has influenced him -- he LOVES music (we're listening right now, as he plays with his toys).  Anyway, my little man now weighs almost 20 times as much as he did last year (in utero) & he's developed such a personality!

Here we are at the beach a couple weeks ago (end of June):

Spring has sprung... or has it?

We've been fighting off cold spells the last few nights, which makes me glad that I didn't find the time to plant my garden over Spring Break. Having 10 days in a row off was wonderful -- just long enough to spoil me into wishing for Summer Break!!  Bug has been growing like a weed. He measured 26" when we were visiting the PA grandparents over Palm Sunday weekend and I think he may have had another growth spurt the two days after we returned from PA.  In addition to all that, he has learned how to roll both front-to-back & back-to-front, though his shoulders are sometimes a bother in completing the roll successfully. Ooo! and I'm pretty sure munchkin is getting teeth... he's been drooling & gnawing on his (and everybody else's) hands like a rabid wolverine and I think I can finally feel a little something on his bottom gum. So, just in case, I thought I'd post one LASTmore toothless smile!

Thoughtful Thursday: Humility

What does it mean to be humble? defines humility as:

[hyoo-mil-i-tee or, often, yoo-]
the quality or condition of being humble; modest opinion or estimate of one's own importance, rank, etc.

lowliness, meekness, submissiveness.

Every now & again, God puts a word on my heart. This is the one that has been replaying in my mind all day today. Am I humble enough? If I'm honest with myself, I don't think I am (at least, not as humble as I could be).  Let's face it, if I were at that Wedding Feast (parable in Luke 14), I'd probably worm myself into a seat 2/3 of the way up toward the head of the table -- after all, I may not be the most important person, but I'm pretty special ;)... then, of course, I'd be humbled when asked to move further down the table. ::sigh::

I need to remember that (1) I'm flawed, so I have no right to cast stones & (2) every person is loved by God -- whether they love Him back or not.  If my Father loves someone, I should follow His example & pray for His forgiveness if I find myself thinking more of me than of them. Humility is a great thing to strive for (despite my difficulty with achieving it).

More Bible Verses about "Being Humble" (from
  • "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

  • "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."

posting fail.

Well, i've already ruined my goal to post twice a month -- that didn't take long!! hahaha
Things have been going well, Bug's growing quickly & we've had lots and lots and lots of learning experiences together already... everything from peeing across the room and hitting the couch, to locking the baby in the car, plus a lot of daily/weekly things like poopacalypses & learning to pump while breastfeeding, etc.
It's hard to believe my little man is already 3 months old -- how the time flies!!
Time seems to run extra fast, now that i'm back at work 5 days a week... but the weekends are the fastest of all. I can't wait for Summer Break ;)

In the meantime, Bug wishes everyone a Happy Valentine's Day

and reminds you "Don't eat the flowers!"

i'm baaaaack... for now...

yes, once again, i fell off the face of the Earth -- at least as far as this blog is concerned...
... but this time i had an excellent reason:

our little boy
born 11/3/11

time has just flown by since he was born & it's almost time for me to return to work (boo hiss)!
i feel like all i do is feed him & watch him sleep on my lap (since he won't sleep anywhere else, except sometimes the car)... he's in for a rude awakening when he has to start at daycare, poor child!

will be doing my best to keep updating here... my goal is at least 2 times per month... we'll see how that goes, but it seems reasonable at this point.
